PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College men's basketball coach Tim Welsh announced on November 16 that student-athletes Weyinmi Efejuku (Queens, N.Y.) and Jonathan Kale (Pawtucket, R.I.) have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College beginning in September 2005.

Efejuku, a 6-foot-4-inch, 205-pound guard attended Rice High School in Manhattan for the past three seasons. Currently, he is attending Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H. In 2003-04 at Rice, Efejuku averaged 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists per game. Last summer, Efejuku played AAU basketball for the New York Gauchos.

Kale, a 6-foot-8-inch, 245-pound forward attends St. Andrew's in Barrington, R.I. Last season, he averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds per game while helping St. Andrew's post a 25-7 mark. Kale, who grew up in Mattapan, Mass., was a student Burke High School, before attending St. Andrew's. He has played for the BABC AAU team during the summer.

"We have signed two very good players who are coming out of great programs," Welsh said. "Jonathan Kale plays locally for Mike Hart at St. Andrew's and Weyinmi Efejuku played for Maurice Hicks at national power Rice High School and is currently at Brewster Academy playing for Jason Smith. Jonathan had an excellent summer and has developed into one of the top power forwards in the country. Weyinmi will help us in the backcourt with his size, strength and speed. Both of these players are good students and excellent individuals that we are looking forward to having in our basketball program."
